Get involved

Six ways into the work.

Volunteer FAQ

Things people ask before their first day.

Do I need experience?
No. Our crew leads have planted hundreds of thousands of trees and will show you the right way in five minutes.
What should I bring?
Boots. Layers. Water. Lunch is provided. Tools are provided. Gloves are provided. If you have a favorite pair of work gloves, bring those.
How early do I need to leave?
Most volunteer days are 9 AM to 3 PM at the parcel. Drives from Portland or Seattle range from 90 minutes to three hours. Carpools are organized in the registration email the week prior.
Is there an age minimum?
Twelve, with a parent or guardian. Sixteen, on your own with a signed waiver. The field school is grades 9–12.
Can my company host a day?
Yes. Groups of 10 to 80, anywhere we have an active parcel within driving distance. We charge a per-person logistics fee that covers the crew lead, lunch, and tools.
